A decade after Rexam’s inaugural Supplier Excellence Awards, the global packaging company recognised the strength and importance of its relationships with suppliers last week at its tenth annual awards ceremony held at The Grove, Hertfordshire.

Rexam Beverage Can Europe and Rexam Beverage Can AMEA gathered together to celebrate its suppliers achieving excellence throughout 2012. Rexam is committed to developing a supplier programme that shares innovations across all platforms from Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering or Manufacturing.

Over 100 guests across the two regions attended the event, including Rexam’s senior management team, and suppliers were recognised in four categories: Supply; Quality; Cost and the prestigious ‘Supplier of the Year’. This year an Outstanding Achievement award was also given.

Richard Downes, VP Supply Chain for Rexam Beverage Can Europe, said: “When this programme started we had five suppliers and in ten years this has increased to around 40. This shows the great relationship that Rexam develops with our suppliers. We know that many of our suppliers work tirelessly to make constant improvements to the service they provide us which in turn makes a big difference to our clients. These awards are our way of recognising this.”

The judging process incorporates a number of factors alongside measuring supplier performance against the targets that are set at the beginning of each year. These include feedback from Rexam plant teams, analysis of management approach and performance in previous years.
