Heinz® Ketchup Celebrates the Availability of PlantBottle™ Packaging with Eco-Themed Sweepstakes
To celebrate the first availability of Heinz® Ketchup bottles using PlantBottle™ technology, Heinz has launched the “Guess What We Just Planted?” trivia game and sweepstakes on its restaurant bottles, asking consumers to test their green knowledge for a chance to win eco-friendly prizes, including a hybrid car and eco-vacation to Costa Rica. Now it’s easier to enjoy America’s Favorite Ketchup®, while also helping the environment.
Heinz is leveraging the innovative packaging as part of an industry-first strategic partnership with The Coca-Cola Company, which developed the breakthrough technology. Made from up to 30% renewable sugar cane material, the PlantBottle plastic looks, feels and functions just like traditional PET plastic, and is 100% recyclable. In the biggest change to Heinz’s iconic ketchup bottles since plastic bottles were first introduced in 1983, all 20-ounce bottles in both retail stores and in restaurants are now made from PlantBottle packaging.
For a limited time, the back of the bottles in restaurants will feature a QR code – a FIRST on a Heinz bottle – to help educate people on the technology and offer a chance to win eco-friendly prizes.
“Heinz is committed to finding innovative solutions that are better for the environment, but still meet the needs of our customers,” said John Bennett, Vice President – Foodservice Ketchup, Condiments & Sauces. “We’re excited to bring Heinz Ketchup in PlantBottle packaging to restaurant tabletops across the country, and to use QR code technology to educate our consumer with an engaging sweepstakes.”
