LINPAC Allibert achieves UN approval for safe distribution of lead acid batteries

LINPAC Allibert, the global expert in plastic returnable transit packaging for the food, retail, storage, distribution and manufacturing sectors, has received UN/ADR approval for its Geobox plastic container (with lid and straps) for the transportation of lead acid batteries by road.

A strong, sturdy container, Geobox is approved by ADR standards for the transport of dangerous goods and is UN certified. It is ideal for the movement and disposal of lead acid batteries, including the bulk carriage of scrap vehicle batteries.

Due to its rigid construction and strapable lid, all produced using HDPE, the Geobox provides a secure environment during transit for volumes up to 543 litres. It is also available with either two or three runners depending on whether or not tipping is required.

Danilo Oliynik, Commercial Director at LINPAC Allibert, explains: “With the introduction of recycling legislation, the disposal of products must be carried out responsibly and that includes the transport of the items from the recycling collection point to the recycling facility. Our products provide some of the best standards for most, if not all, scenarios.

“Many battery chemicals are corrosive or poisonous – or both. If leakage occurs, either spontaneously or through accident, the chemicals released can be extremely dangerous.

“We see the UN/ADR approved Geobox as an ideal product for waste management companies and local authorities which have to take responsibility for this heavily regulated sector of logistics.”
