Bag-in-Box aids new pouchlink system
Rapak's aseptic bag-in-box technology is helping to ensure the freshness and quality of the drinks produced in the newly launched Pouchlink vending machine, while at the same time supporting its strong environmental credentials.
Pouchlink, developed by the Green Drinks Company, fills pouches of drinks to order and is claimed to have a 75% lower carbon footprint than a conventional drinks machine. The pouches are fully recyclable and represent 75% less material than normal plastic bottles, while the machine uses 80% less electricity because the water is only chilled when it is needed.
Pouchlink, an innovation in vending packaging, uses post-mix technology to produce each drink to order, with concentrates for the drinks, which include Bottlegreen, Sunkist and Vimto, stored in bag-in-boxes supplied by Rapak.
In the Pouchlink system, each drink is made to order, where the concentrate is mixed with freshly filtered chilled water and filled into the special pouch before capped and dispensed to the consumer.
The packaging has a strong environmental profile, which ideally complements the Green Dinks Company’s commitment to minimise the impact of the system.
