Silgan White Cap Europe/Asia has extended its range of closure solutions for the food industry with the availability of two 63mm closures for wide-mouth jars. The Plasti-Twist® 63VHJ all plastic finish with ring-lining and 63BTO with plastic threads and a floating metal panel, which are manufactured by Silgan White Cap’s US operations, are suitable for hot fill and cold fill applications for plastic and glass containers, for products such as sauces, salsas, pickles, juices and peanuts.

The closures offer an alternative solution to traditional metal twist off versions for wide mouth jars, and demonstrate Silgan White Cap’s capabilities in all types of closure manufacture – plastic, metal and composite – which enables the company to offer tailored solutions to particular pack or product requirements.

Both closures have been designed for maximum convenience and ease of use. A four thread system ensures improved cap application and removal and the caps can be applied with both straight-line and rotary sealing machines. For consumers, the caps are easy to open and reseal and a patented drop down safety brand offers effective tamper evidence.

The BTO incorporates a metal panel with plastisol gasket and a plastic fitment with tamper evident band. The gasket ensures an excellent sealing performance with all types of container, and the closure offers excellent barrier properties. It is also suitable for certain pasteurisation processes. The BTO can be specified with a vacuum safety button, which pops up with an audible click during first opening.

Decoration options mean the closures can be individualised for effective branding and on-shelf impact. The plastic fitment for the BTO is available in a variety of colours while graphics and images can be created on the metal panel via litho print. The VHJ can also be specified in a number of different colours and offers additional external printing or embossing.
