HDPE consumption down 15% in Russia
Over the course of January-July, HDPE consumption went down by 15% in Russia, compared to the same period last year, and moved at 388.35 kt – according to MRC’s analysts.
HDPE exports increased 85%. At the same time, supply of injection moulding feedstock went up by more than three times and moved at 17.97 kt. Nearly 50% are being exported to China.
The situation in the pipe-grade HDPE market became more aggravated. Kazan material was undersupplied. Kazanorsytnez’s exports of pipe-grade HDPE dropped by 57%. There are some small volumes of Stavrolen’s feedstock available in the market. Supply of that material increased a little bit (+ 8%).
It is hard to forecast whether volumes of PE produced in Tomsk and Ufa are sufficient to meet market demand in September – beginning of October. Tomskneftekhim exports over a half of its LDPE output.
