Huhtamaki’s newly launched bio-coated paper cups for hot, cold and vended drinks have won the disposable category of the Caterer & Hotelkeeper Equipment & Supplies Excellence Awards 2008 in the UK.

The cup is a welcome addition to Huhtamaki’s existing range of BioWare single-use cups, plates, containers and cutlery, all of which are completely compostable. The new bio-coated paper cups are certified in accordance with EN13432 – the European ‘norm’ for compostability of packaging.

The fibers used in BioWare paper cups come from sustainably managed forests and they have the Forestry Stewardship Council’s (FSC) chain of custody certificate. Thanks to the cup’s innovative bio-coating, the product can be composted in industrial composting facilities. The entire chain, from raw material input to production and disposal, has been designed to have a minimal impact on the environment.

Available in a wide range of sizes the bio-coated cups are ideal for needs of various foodservice operators from daily catering to outdoor festivals and mass events. Cups are available in the attractive BioWare stock design or customers’ own custom print.
