LyondellBasell’s world-class HDPE plant achieves one million tonnes milestone
LyondellBasells world-scale Hostalen Advanced Cascade Process (ACP) 320 KT per year HDPE plant, located in Wesseling, Germany, has produced one million tonnes of prime HDPE grades since start-up in 2004.
Hostalen resins are the materials of choice for use in pipe, high performance film and blow molding applications. Within the pipe market, these resins are selected by customers for use in municipal water, gas and sewage systems and new drinking water projects throughout the world.
The property spectrum of HDPE has been broadened even further through our latest-generation Hostalen process technology, said Ulrich Schulte, Pipe & Sheet Application Development & Technical Service Manager for LyondellBasell. In piping applications, our new Hostalen CRP 100 RESIST CR Black resin exhibits excellent high stiffness/impact balance and superior resistance to creep and environmental stress cracking far beyond that of standard grades.
According to Elke Damm, LyondellBasells Hostalen Technology Manager, the companys largest HDPE facility utilizes a versatile combination of reactors which result in products exhibiting a combination of properties that are not achievable with conventional unimodal or bimodal HDPE grades.
