November 13th 2007 - DuPont Russia LLC announced the company changed its name to DuPont Science and Technologies LLC with immediate effect. This change occurred concurrently with a major investors meeting that took place at corporate headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware and highlighted the company’s continued transformation from purely chemicals-based activities to products and solutions based on science and technologies, including biotechnologies.

The new name DuPont Science and Technologies LLC enables Russian customers to clearly understand the essence of the vision and mission of the company, which is one of the world’s leaders in terms of developing and marketing science-based products and solutions.  DuPont Regional Director for Eastern Europe, John Shmorhun, adds: «The company’s new name clearly demonstrates the direction of our activities and the expanding range of our opportunities. We represent the science company which has dedicated itself to the development of innovative solutions aiming to satisfy community and consumer needs and to make people’s lives all over the world better, safer and healthier».

In 2006 the company invested USD 1.4 billion into research and development. DuPont has about 5,000 scientists and engineers working in more than 75 research and development facilities across the world. During the investor meeting, DuPont Chairman and CEO Charles O. Holliday, Jr also updated security analysts and investors on its DuPont Applied BioSciences™ business, called it “one of the most significant growth opportunities in the company’s history”. DuPont breakthrough scientific developments include corn-based Bio-PDO™, the main component of Sorona® biopolymer used for different applications including carpeting, clothing and others; Pioneer® seeds, based on progressive plant genetics for achieving higher crops output; also, DuPont is one of the world’s leaders in the sphere of biofuels technologies development.

Applying this approach to its activities in Russia, the company actively supports the introduction of innovative solutions and new technologies, by stimulating production development in different sectors of the Russian economy and closely cooperating for the past 10 years with Russian scientific institutes, the Russian Academy of Science and many independent scientists.
