SMS sells Battenfeld injection moulding division
SMS Group announced today it has sold its Austrian-headquartered Battenfeld Kunststoffmaschinen business, and all its 13 subsidiaries, to Munich-headquartered private equity group Adcuram Industriekapital.
“Battenfeld perfectly suits the Adcuram Group’s investment approach,” said Adcuram ceo Thomas W Probst. “We are looking forward to supporting the long term advancement of Battenfeld as a force for innovation in the injection moulding field.”
Adcuram’s portfolio of companies, which also includes Kautex Maschinenbau, Keram Chemie and Schott Duran, generates an annual turnover of around ?500m.
The sale – which comes just four days ahead of the important Fakuma fair in Germany – leaves SMS’s Plastics Technology business focused on the plastics extrusion marketplace, a position it has strived to achieve since 1999, when a sale to US private equity group Madison Capital Partners fell apart.
