"Retal Industries", one of the leading producers of PET preforms on the Russian and East European markets, is planning to increase its production volume by 2008 to 12 billion units (an increase of 60%). It also intends to break into the Italian and Spanish markets by the end of 2006.

In addition, at the end of 2006 a BOPET film production facility in Russia's Kaluga Province will come into operation, thanks to a ?25 million investment. Demand for the film, used for the packaging of food products requiring good barrier properties, such as mayonnaise, currently comes primarily from food producers outside Russia. The first line of the 'Retal Industries' plant will have a capacity of 16,000 tonnes per year.
