Packaging group Sealed Air has acquired Nelipak, the Netherlands-based thermoformer that specialises in medical packaging.

The firm has its head office in Venray, with production facilities located at Venray and Overloon in the Netherlands and Galway, Ireland. Around 400 staff are employed at these four locations. Nelipak’s 2004 sales were approximately $50m (E41m). The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sealed Air chief executive William Hickey said: “We are pleased to build on our presence in medical packaging with the acquisition of Nelipak. We believe that medical packaging represents an attractive growth opportunity for Sealed Air's products and technology. This acquisition will enable us to expand our ability to meet the packaging needs of the global healthcare industry.”
