Sharp Interpack breaks ground on new UK factory

Total investment at Bridgwater will reach Ј3m.
UK packaging firm Sharp Interpack has begun construction of a new factory in Bridgwater, which will open in October this year.

A spokeswoman saithe new factory was being built alongside the existing premises and will be linked with them to create one large modern site of 1,000 sq metres. Total investment in the site is over Ј3m (E4.5m).

Combined with current facilities the new factory will create a fully integrated manufacturing operation, according to the company. It said the new factory would increase efficiency through automation and integration of warehouse and storage facilities with key manufacturing stages.

Managing director Declan O’Sullivan said: “Sharp is growing rapidly, and this new factory will help us meet the rising demand for our products. We work alongside and supply many products into the UK and Europe’s leading supermarkets and their expectations for efficiency and turnaround are very exacting. This expansion will guarantee that our customers can continue to expect both first class products and service from us.”

Sharp Interpack’s Aylesham site is also undergoing redevelopment and modernisation. A total of Ј10m (E15m) will be invested in the two sites.
