Located in Franklin, Kentucky, RKW North America is one of the leading manufacturers of sustainable, high-performance films for a wide range of applications across North America. Founded in 2000 as Danafilms Inc., the company became part of the RKW Group in late 2010, an independent family owned company headquartered in Germany with more than 65 years of experience in manufacturing excellent film solutions. The RKW Group operates 17 sites on four continents.

For over two decades, RKW North America has been producing high-performance mono and multi-layer films for the converting industry. These films serve as essential components in the production of a wide range of packaging solutions. Furthermore, RKW North America's films are well known for a variety of industrial applications, especially in industries such as composites and construction. In addition to classic mono films, the product portfolio also includes multilayer films that can be produced with EVOH as well as polyamide, or a combination of both, and are mainly used for the production of packaging materials. Moreover, RKW North America produces sheet molding films (SMC) for the composites industry, as well as film solutions for the production of surface protection films and tapes. For years, our Aptra® and RoofTopGuard® films have been integral to the construction industry, serving as trusted solutions for roofing, roofing underlayment, and insulation.

For several years, RKW has earned an outstanding reputation with its breathable and non-breathable backsheet films in the hygiene and medical industries. These high-quality films are used in the production of baby diapers, feminine hygiene products, adult incontinence products, and medical protective clothing.

Our global team is continuously working to enhance our product portfolio, whether through increased use of recycled material (PCR Food Compliant or PIR), biodegradable films, or the development of films for mono-material packaging solutions that ensure easier recyclability. RKW is proud to offer one of the broadest MDO-PE film ranges. RKW's MDO-PE lamination films are available both with and without a barrier. The transparent MDO-PE films are used as printable outer films for pouches, for example, and can replace polyester films due to their versatile properties. They are mainly used as PET/OPP replacements in packaging for snacks, cereals, candy and pet food. Enhanced with EVOH as a potent barrier, our MDO-PE films are an ideal fit for flexible packaging, suitable for diverse contents such as nuts and snacks. In combination with our Low SIT lamination films or our TMX® (Easy Tear) films, they offer our customers excellent opportunities to produce sustainable and highest quality packaging.

RKW was the first company worldwide to develop the self-venting FFS valve sack RKW ProVent®. For years, this product has been setting standards in the industry and is mainly used for packaging powdery goods such as cement, mortar and other finely powdered chemical goods, but also for food such as flour or sugar. RKW ProVent® can not only significantly extend the shelf life of products, but for the first time allows them to be stored outside, as the sack, while venting, provides an excellent moisture barrier. RKW ProVent® sacks also feature excellent machinability and high filling speeds.
