Free-flow fill and seal

The Fawema continuous motion bag filler and sealer, supplied in the UK through Petzold + Company, has been designed to handle free-flowing granular and powder products, including pet food, cat litter, flour and sugar. The servo-controlled FA438 operates at speeds of up to 60 bags/min using pre-made, side-gusseted paper or plastic bags. A bag maker can also be attached so the machine can operate on pre-made bags, as well as reels.

Special features include 14 filling hoppers for extended filling time, no change parts, clamps to hold the gussets together at all times and a 3D, menu-driven, servo-controlled size change, which takes five minutes. Since there is no friction applied to the bag, no scuffing is incurred and the machine can incorporate a front, top or top-slider zip. According to Petzold + Company, response has been positive and several of the machines are already on order.
