Bosch Packaging Technology Acquires SIG Pack

Robert Bosch Verpakkingsmachines B.V. (NL) has acquired SIG Pack from SIG Holding AG headquartered in Neuhausen, Switzerland. Bosch and SIG signed the respective contracts on April 15, 2004. The acquisition is subject to approval by regulatory authorities.

SIG Pack is a respected worldwide manufacturer of packaging machines and systems. Its primary product range comprises horizontal bag forming, filling and sealing machines, flat bag and wrapping machines, and robotic technology for the food and confectionery industries. The Swiss company has a work force of 1,540 and generates annual sales of approximately 230 million euro ($274 million).

The acquisition enhances the position of the Bosch Packaging Technology Division as one of the leading manufacturers in this widely diverse market. It supports Bosch's commitment to systems integration and comprehensive solutions for its customers. The combined product lines for the new organization features minimal overlap between Bosch Packaging Technology and SIG Pack.

Bosch Packaging Technology designs, produces and sells packaging machines and lines for liquid and solid pharmaceuticals, food and confectionery products. In 2003 the division had annual sales of approximately 360 million euro ($429 million) with a global workforce of 2,750 associates.
