Food Forum "Supplier for Retail Chain" gives first-hand information about changes in Russian food market
Acclaimed food market analysts, experts in online trade and methods of negotiating with retail chains and procurers, top managers of international, federal and regional retail chains, and heads of Russia’s leading food companies have taken part in the 14th Russian Food Forum “Supplier for Retail Chain” hosted by Expocentre AO.
The forum organised by the Imperia Congress and Exhibition Company and Expocentre AO was a central event of the supporting program of the Prodexpo 2019 international exhibition. The forum opened on February 12 with an analytical session dedicated to trends, retail indicators, and food market development forecasts for this year.
There was also an assembly of directors who discussed market adjustments resulting from new legislation such as the merchandise return ban and the VAT rate increase, and their impact on retail trade and producers. Experts forecast a hike in foreign exchange rates which would increase the prime cost of food.
More than 300 delegates of the forum were keen on the focus session regarding online food trade. It was noted that online food trade in Moscow amounted to only 0.15 billion rubles in 2000, and grew to 25 billion rubles in 2017. Buyers are rapidly shifting from the offline mode to the online one. According to the latest forecasts, the turnover growth in the segment of food delivery will soon exceed 26%.
Yesterday the forum offered its participants a practical session dedicated to methods of negotiations and relations with retail chains. Today, the forum ended with a focus session, “Creating a Bestseller: How to ‘Dress up’ a Product to Draw Attention and Sell”, which also has a large practical significance.
Traditionally, the food forum hosted the Purchasing Centre for Retail Chains™, the largest platform of the food market where producers and suppliers held negotiations with heads of procurement departments and commercial directors of more than 100 federal and regional retail chains.
The Prodexpo 2019 exhibition also has the specialised Centre of Retail Chains. Producers and suppliers use it to hold negotiations with chains, demonstrate their products, and hold tasting and presentation events.
