Mosca recognized as the most innovative mechanical engineering company in Germany

Strapping specialist Mosca has been named "Germany's most innovative company" in the mechanical engineering category of a survey commissioned by magazines Focus and Focus Money. Deutschlandtest recognized the most innovative companies in 53 industries based on their mentions in social media.

Mosca has been a technology leader spearheading strapping industry innovation for more than 50 years. Innovative strength in the family-managed enterprise ensures Mosca is ready for future challenges and makes the company an attractive employer for qualified professionals. This latest distinction demonstrates that the company's appeal and stellar reputation extend well beyond its own field. In the search for Germany's most innovative company, the Deutschlandtest survey commissioned by Focus and Focus Money put Germany's 5,000 biggest companies in terms of employees to the acid test. The companies were graded according to their reputation on social media platforms. From January to December 2016, Deutschlandtest analyzed more than 21 million positive, neutral and negative comments and messages about innovation, investments, research and development, new products, and technology. They were evaluated for each company to produce a score.

Mosca tops the mechanical engineering category with a score of 100, making it a benchmark for the other companies in this category. Mosca CEO Timo Mosca said: "Whether constructing our machinery to be increasingly energy-efficient or boosting networking in new solutions – we at Mosca have a clear focus on innovations, both in our everyday operations and our strategic orientation. This award shows that our efforts are received positively both in the industry and on social media. We are very proud of this fact."

Mosca leads the way regarding IoT in its industry: a new RFID system enables customers to automate ordering processes for straps. Strapping coils with RFID tags communicate with the customer's ERP system, identify stock levels, and independently activate reorders. Employees can use an app to follow the automated processes.

Networked solutions are equally part of the IoT developments. All class III and higher machines are fitted with a network communication option, allowing them to be used in fully automatic production lines and other applications. With Mosca's remote maintenance option, technicians can access a machine remotely and quickly diagnose any malfunctions. This equally increases production efficiency.

The company's patented SoniXs ultrasonic technology is still unique. It seals the strapping material using ultrasonic waves instead of heat. This saves energy and does not produce any residues or vapors.

Along with the benefits for users, sustainability and responsibility play a key role at Mosca. The family-run business subscribes to the principle of “Responsible Production”, embracing its responsibility for its employees and the environment. Mosca is the first strap manufacturer to have developed a strap using renewable raw materials. Unlike usual plastics, the Eco-Strap is made from 100% polylactide. The raw material is completely compostable and the strapping material fully degrades after 12 weeks in industrial composting facilities.

Mosca has been recognized time and again for its focus on future-oriented technologies. It has been one of the "100 Companies for Resource Efficiency” in Baden-Württemberg since 2016 and is included in the state's Competence Atlas as one of the "100 Places for Industry 4.0 in Baden-Württemberg".
