OOO Fazer, a subsidiary of Fazer International Ltd, began producing Fazer chocolate on the basis of ZAO Krupskaya Confectionery. There was no need to install any new production lines: Fazer chocolate is made using already available imported equipment serviced by the factory's specialists, while Fazer experts supervise the production process. Almost all the raw materials and components come from Finland.

Negotiations with the Krupskaya Confectionery began in 1999. The contract was signed about a year later, in January 2000. A pilot batch of Fazer chocolate was manufactured in June 1999, and at the end of the summer the production was launched at full capacity. The volume of chocolate output has not been disclosed so far.
