According to information from both Du Pont, Wilmington / USA, and Bemis Company Inc., Minneapolis / USA, Bemis intends to take over the global business with Clysar light-gauge polyolefin shrinkwrapping films, including the Du Pont plants in Clinton / USA and LeTrait / France.
Du Pont has revealed that the take-over is expected to be made in August 2002. The Clysar product line is said to be a highly transparent, puncture-resistant packaging film for technical retail packaging. Bemis is planning to generate sales of about USD 100 million with Clysar in 2003. The company is considered to be the biggest manufacturer of flexible packaging and self-adhesive labels / technology in North America. More than 8 000 employees achieve sales of about USD 2 billion.
The Americans specialise in polymer chemistry, extrusion, coating and laminating as well as in the printing and processing of their product range. The latter extends from high-barrier, multilayer applications for food, pharmaceutical and personal hygiene products to a separate PE packaging group and paper sacks.
