UPAKOVKA 2015: Bosch highlights complete systems competence

16.01.2015

Bosch Packaging Technology and POLO, the company’s long-standing partner in Russia, will be spotlighting a Bosch’s concept on the Russian market called Module++. This concept provides unlimited possibilities to link Bosch’s proven standard modules to create adaptable and scalable end-to-end processing and packaging lines. With a presence in the Russian market of more than 20 years, Bosch offers complete solutions for the Russian confectionery, bakery, chocolate, dairy and snack industries. Its portfolio includes processing, filling, dosing and packaging equipment, giving manufacturers the benefit of a single-source solutions provider for their entire production line.

“For food and non-food manufacturers to be successful in today’s dynamic market, they must be fast, flexible and forward-thinking,” said Martin Tanner, director business development and marketing, product division confectionery and food, Bosch Packaging Technology. “Bosch’s Module++ lines empower manufacturers by giving them the ability to adapt to change and shape their evolving businesses. It offers the ultimate in format and pack style versatility.”

To create each line, Bosch draws from its local support that is backed by a global knowledge network. This ensures that manufacturers will be equipped with customized solutions enabling quick time-to-market. All machines are also available as standalone modules designed for simple integration with existing Bosch technology.

Module++ from processing technology to end-of-line packaging

For Russian food manufacturers, Bosch highlights its Module++ capabilities including modules for processing, distributing, feeding, horizontal flow and double twist wrapping, die-folding, vertical and secondary packaging, as well robotics for both primary, secondary and shelf-ready packaging.

Processing

Bosch offers Russian bar producers its new slab former capable of adjusting the slab width during production without machine stops. This unique feature minimizes product waste, maximizes uptime, and provides faster return on investment (ROI). In addition to processing technology, Bosch also offers a wide range of distribution systems. The company’s latest belt distribution system features a touchless transportation concept, making it capable of handling even the most challenging products, whether sticky, soft, top-heavy or fragile.

Primary packaging

For primary packaging applications, where products are not aligned or randomly orientated on the distribution belt, or where additional functionalities like grouping, stacking or buffering are required, the third generation Delfi Delta robot is ideal. The Delfi feed placer features machine visual guidance to identify product location and quality before picking and placing products into the infeed of a horizontal flow wrapper in a precise and consistent order. In addition, the easy to use Human Machine Interface (HMI) enables food and confectionery producers to simulate new product formats and recipes offline, enabling them to test tomorrow’s production today.

Also for primary packaging, Bosch offers a great variety of packaging machines to suit various manufacturer needs. The latest horizontal flow wrapper with rotary cross-sealing unit can be integrated with a wide range of semi- to fully-automated feeding solutions and has been designed for fast changeovers and quick and easy maintenance. It can be equipped with a new narrow cutting head for higher speed heat sealing. Bosch’s most versatile wrapper features new inverted design and hermetic sealing technology, offering an extended format range, full layout flexibility, freshness protection as well as enhanced product shelf life.

For premium chocolate wrapping, Bosch’s die-fold hermetic sealing wrapper can be integrated in the Module++ line, enhancing pack style flexibility and superior product shelf appeal. The DSD 0600 H gives manufacturers the unique option of switching hermetic sealing on and off for die-fold operations, minimizing the footprint requirements. The hermetic sealing technology is polypropylene-compatible and allows for airtight and tamper-proof sealing of single-wrap die-fold packaging for small- and medium-sized chocolates.

A high-end vertical bagger, capable of producing a variety of different pack styles with reclosabilty and opening features, can also be part of the Module ++ line. It can easily be adapted for heat and ultrasonic sealing. Pack styles include pillow packs, block bottom, four-corner seal, doy and doy zip. The Russian confectionery manufacturers can choose from a wide variety of SVE vertical forming, filling and sealing machines designed for packaging a large range of products. Through easy changeovers and flexibility to run different products on a single machine, the SVE family is a cost-effective and high-speed solution.

Secondary and end-of-line packaging

For secondary and end-of-line packaging, Bosch offers two different approaches. To pack products up to three kilos, the new Paloma Delta robot top loader, featuring higher pick rates and tool-less gripper changeover, ensures smooth transfer of the packages for flexible pack patterns. Additionally, the new open frame design expedites cleaning and simplifies maintenance tasks. For packages with higher payloads, a new case packer offers high flexibility with a wide range of bag and case sizes and styles. It is designed for quick changeovers to accommodate vertical stand-up or horizontal (lay flat) bag orientation. Both secondary packaging machines make use of Bosch’s long-standing experience in gripper technology, facilitating fast time-to-market.

Single point of contact through all project phases

In order to support a smooth workflow of all processing, packaging and delivery requirements, Bosch offers Russian manufacturers an integrated Module ++ solution from one source. Through all project phases, there is a single point of contact from complete evaluation and realization of the line concept, to faster production start-up and reliable after-sales services and training.

Bosch experts will be at the POLO booth 22C40 in Pavilion 2, UPAKOVKA / UPAK ITALIA 2015, Expocentre Krasnaya Presnya, Moscow, Russia, in January 27 to 30, 2015.
