MULTIVAC helps its employees after the earthquake in Chile

15.10.2010

Proof that globalisation means more than just increased competitive pressure is shown by the worldwide readiness to help which has been brought together by the employees of MULTIVAC following the earthquake in Chile. They donated a total of 12,000 euros for their colleagues so that they could get through the onset of the past winter.

In February Chile was shaken by a severe earthquake. The small village of Coliumo on the coast of Chile with its barely 1000 inhabitants was also affected by the natural disaster - and with it also the relatives of Mario Nova, a service technician with MULTIVAC Chile. "My family lost all their belongings in the earthquake" as he explained the consequences of the disaster. His MULTIVAC colleagues in Santiago spontaneously collected money for Mario and the four other colleagues whose families were affected by the earthquake. This contribution was doubled by MULTIVAC Chile and this enabled food and other daily items of use to be bought for the bereaved.

Afterwards MULTIVAC extended the help campaign internationally "so that the Nova family once again had a roof over their heads and some hope and strength" as Enrique Klingenberg, Managing Director of MULTIVAC Chile, explained. Instead of the original aim of 7,000 euros a total of 12,000 euros was raised. Of this almost half of the donations came from the German speaking regions.
