Segezhskaya Upakovka (Investlesprom group): BASF has made quality audit at the enterprise in Segezha

On June, 1, LLC “Segezhskaya Upakovka” (Segezha, Republic of Karelia) was visited by BASF company specialists (Germany). BASF company is considering the enterprise to be the principal paper package supplier for its dry mixes productions at the territory of Russia and Kazakhstan, and for final decision it is implementing the audit of the whole technological chain concerning quality control.

The delegation included packaging materials purchase department director, Harald Beutel and logistics service purchase manager in Russia and CIS, Anastacia Ubina as well as representatives of construction materials division, BASF (PCI Augsburg GmbH), Florian Baumeister and Alexander Assum.BASF’s specialists have thoroughly examined the quality control system along the whole technological chain, learned about sacks production technology at “Segezhskaya Upakovka”.

According to Harald Beutel the audit has passed successfully and confirmed that quality control system of Segezha Packaging completely complies with requirements that BASF made of its partners and suppliers. The scale and opportunities of production amaze, specialists are highly qualified. All questions that arose before the audit were solved, preliminary remarks were withdrawn. It is necessary as soon as possible to come up to the contract conclusion phase.

- The cooperation of Segezha Packaging, part of Investlesprom group, and BASF company has a long story, - as informed chief of export sales department, Segezha Packaging, Sergey Pokusaev. – Situated in German town Ahern the plant of Segezha Packaging has been partner of the chemical concern for many years. In the beginning of this year BASF has installed the newest equipment at its enterprise in Kazakhstan and at the same time has implemented successful tests of paper sacks produced at segezha’s platform. Since BASF cares a lot for its reputation of quality products producer the management of the company made a decision to implement a thorough audit of the enterprise in Segezha before contract conclusion. There were questions regarding FSC certification of Segezha Packaging’s products. Investlesprom group has already been certified along the whole chain of raw materials supply and shares the same approaches towards quality and ecology. In LLC “Segezhskaya Upakovka” the preparation for getting the international FSC-certificate is being completed.

It is assumed that till the end of June BASF company will review the results of the implemented audit. The next phase of cooperation will become the signing of the contract by BASF and Segezha Packaging for sacks production and supply.
