Crown PeelSeam™ range expands to include larger diameter
CROWN Food Europe, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc., has extended its PeelSeam™ peelable lid family to include a new 150mm diameter option. Capable of being used on both Crown’s stylish bowl cans and standard three-piece cans with volumes up to 1kg, the new end is ideal for both processed foods such as fish, ready meals or desserts and non-processed dry foods such as milk and coffee powder.
Faugier, a well known French manufacturer of candied chestnuts and creams, is debuting the new diameter on its premium "Marrons Glacés" range. The end is featured on a new attractively decorated three-piece can which combines a matt and gloss two-tone finish and has a metal overcap for product resealing.
The PeelSeam™ opening system is double seamed on metal containers and consists of a thin flexible aluminium foil lid heat-sealed to a rigid steel ring. The new technology enables consumers to open packages smoothly and easily, and offers brand owners the chance to use high quality graphics on both container and lid to further enhance visual appeal.
"Our new wider PeelSeam™ diameter opens up many exciting avenues for brand owners," says Steve Thomas, Marketing Manager – PR, CROWN Food Europe. "We are now able to offer this new level of consumer convenience even for family sized portions of products such as fish, ready meals and other processed foods."
Additionally, the combination of the new PeelSeam™ lid with Crown’s shallow bowl-shaped containers makes it suitable and safe for use in microwaves, especially for ready-meals and "on-the-go" products.
Crown’s PeelSeam™ family also includes 65mm, 73mm, 83mm and 99mm diameters for use with steel and aluminum bowl-shaped cans, as well as rectangular ends for use on fish cans. The newest PeelSeam™ end is manufactured at Crown’s plant in Outreau, France.
