Russia: SUN InBev Opens New Brewery in Angarsk

Opening ceremony of SUN InBev’s Angarsk brewery has taken place with the participation of senior representatives of the Government of Irkutsk region, Angarsk City Administration and the Head of the Company.

The Protocol to the Agreement on social and economic cooperation with the Government of Irkutsk region was signed during the ceremony. The document sets cornerstone principles of mutually beneficial cooperation of both parties in the field of realization of investment, production and social projects.

The Company started construction of Angarsk brewery in 2006. Since then the investments to the project exceeded 150 mln euro. Actual capacity of the plant is 1.8 mln hl and it is already producing such brands as Sibirskaya Korona, Klinskoye, Tolstyak, Zolotaya Angara. Besides its main production activity the enterprise contributes to the development of adjacent industries – agriculture, transport, packaging e t. c. For the last year the volume of orders placed with regional suppliers reached 1.5 bln rubles.

The new brewery is significant employer in the region. At the moment 265 people are engaged in the main production activities of the enterprise. 95% of them are local residents of Angarsk and Irkutsk region. In addition to that 290 people are also employed on outsource terms.

The Minister of Economic Development, Labour, Science and High Education of Irkutsk region Mr Vladimir Pashkov noted: “Opening of a new and advanced enterprise at current economic situation is definitely important event for the whole region. We believe that the activity of Angarsk brewery of SUN InBev will positively contribute to the economic development of the region”.

Speaking at the press-conference during the ceremony, the head of SUN InBev Mr TunÇ Cerrahoğlu stated: “Angarsk brewery is the eastern outpost of SUN InBev in Russia. The new enterprise is mainly focused on meeting the demand for high quality beer in Central, Eastern Siberia and Far East. And it is a huge region with prospective opportunities”.
