Russian PVC imports dropped nearly three times in January
Overall January PVC imports hardly exceeded 10 kt. To compare, imports were over 28 kt in January 2008. Suspension imports went down by more than three times (to 5 106 mt).
The market is not facilitated by new acetylene-based resin from Xinjiang Tianye and Xinjiang Zhongtai. Serious feedstock volumes of Formosa and Oxyvinyls had been delivered by the end of January, 2009. Meanwhile, converters are very cautious about planning purchasing.
There are surplus volumes of both Russian and imported material in the market; and demand is rather not to cover even a half-month of the domestic output.
