Russian Gold Epica Awards 2007
Epica is the largest European advertising awards competition. Epica Awards 2007 received a total of 5,642 entries and 732 companies participated in the competition. Work from 47 countries was represented in the competition.
This year Depot WPF Brand & Identity received "gold" for the packaging design of exclusive chocolates "Comilfo". It is the second golden Epica award of Depot WPF. Last year there was "gold" for the packaging design for "Zvezda" paints. The pack is dominated by an original form. When the lid is removed, the cartonboard case unfolds to reveal four stacked boxes. The brand identity is based on the concept of an independent, self-sufficient woman of the 1920-40s. The pack is relatively plain outside but unexpectedly bright inside. The outer box is made from original exclusive paper with golden fibres intended to give unusual tactile sensations. The four boxes inside display Byzantine, Egyptian, Arabic and Greek motifs. "A second “gold” is very unexpected and very pleasant!,” commented Andrey Nadein, jury member of Epica Awards.
“It is impossible to score a hit twice by chance. That means that the second win of Depot WPF was not luck, but objective and logical. The jury as attracted by the pack’s interactivity. The set of chocolates in such a package is a gift, and everybody expects surprise, wonder, something festive from it".
The awards ceremony of Epica Awards will be held at the Rival Hotel in Stockholm on January 11th, 2008. It will be hosted by the Swedish advertising magazine Resumé.
