Alcan Packaging receives the 2007 German Packaging Award

Rio Tinto Alcan is pleased to announce that Alcan Packaging Teningen, from the Company’s Food Europe group, received the German Packaging Award 2007 for its new transparent lid with pattern heat seal varnish. This annual award is given by the German Packaging Institute to recognise the most creative and innovative packaging solutions.

The specially developed cup lid is produced with transparent polyethylene terephthalate (PET) composite, which reduces the amount of packaging material used in the production process. The use of varnish and solvents is also reduced by applying the sealants only to the area of the product that is sealed. The lids’ transparency allows for an ideal product presentation.
