Dow Epoxy masterminds three acquisitions

In a bid to enhance its downstream performance, Dow Epoxy is set to acquire three epoxy system formulation businesses.

A business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, Dow Epoxy has signed definitive agreements today to acquire UPPC AG in Germany, and US firms POLY-CARB Inc and GNS Technologies.

Dow Epoxy is looking to grow its recently launched Systems business, which will focus on applications in civil engineering, specialty protective coatings, composites and wind energy.

According to Pepe Carnevale, global business director of Dow Epoxy Systems, the three formulators add unique capabilities to the business.

POLY-CARB specialises in systems that combat infrastructure erosion; GNS Technologies supplies thermoset systems for industrial maintenance and steel structure coatings applications; UPPC manufactures hardeners for epoxy systems.

Financial details were not disclosed.
