More than a half of the overall PP processing in Russia belongs to the injection molding sector
The sector of molded goods is one of the most important sectors in polypropylene processing in Russia. According to the data of MRC, the share of that sector in the overall PP consumption constituted about 50% in 2006. The supply is dominated by Homo; however, domestic processors begin to use Impact more actively.
Polypropylene suppliers in the injection molding sector are dominated by Russian manufacturers. Nevertheless, their market share is gradually decreasing (from 94% in 2000 down to 69% in 2006). The most difficult task is to take into account processing volumes of the 30th brand since many processors use this brand and its analogues as injection molding compounds.
Generally, the injection molding sector is represented by more than 170 PP brands of different manufacturers. Thus, for example, in 2006, manufacturers of accumulators began to use PP of LG Chem of Korea more actively; Borealis was able to offer the optimal, in terms of its properties, Impact of the BD950MO brand to produce caps for PET packaging (Nitech-Plast, Retal and others), Homo of HB306MO and HG313MO brands to produce capsules (Alcoa, Alpla, Sequist Clousers and others).
The sector of molded thin-walled goods is dominated by foreign PP brands of Chemopetrol (Perint, M-plastica) and Borealis (Polymerbyt, Continental Plast LLC).
