Consumption of film PP in Russia will double by 2011
According to MRC, the consumption of film polypropylene increased by unprecedented 85% in 2006. The growth rate would make up about 21% in 2007. Generally, the consumption of PP in the sector of films increased more than 30 times (!) during the recent seven years.
However, in the opinion of the experts of MRC, in spite of huge investments made into the production of BOPP films, the Russian market of PP films has not yet matured, today. Many declared projects on BOPP films are still far from being profitable, whereas promising production of CPP films has been developed only by one company in Korolev. Since the consumption of BOPP films in Russia does not develop as fast as expected earlier, together with the growth of their production volumes Russian manufacturers will have to work on own export supplies.
Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, as well as China and Eastern European countries, can be considered as the most important export markets.
