Adhesive developed for air-blown labels
A new hotmelt adhesive on the market has been specifically developed for cool-temperature, air-blown label dispensing, a system particularly in used in food packaging.
Avery Dennison said its Fasson S2065 combines high tack with strong adhesion to a variety of substrate packaging, including apolar films, sausage casings, stretch PVC and PE, and modified atmosphere films at temperatures as low as 1C.
The company said it is targeted the food packaging industry by offering Fasson S2065 as standard with two of the brand's facestocks, the MC Primecoat and the Thermal Top K8P. MC Primecoat is a standard machine coated paper used when multi-colour label print is required. The K8P is oil, moisture, alcohol and plasticiser resistant and can be used for direct thermal labels containing variable information.
"We are confident that Fasson S2065 will become a benchmark adhesive for this market segment," said company product manager Gwenaelle Legarrec. Fasson S2065 complies with German and US standards for food contact materials used with dry and moist non-fatty foods. It has a service temperature ranging from -40C to 50C, making it suitable for use on frozen foods, a variety of retail trays and other prepacks.
