LANXESS Continues Restructuring in its Synthetic Fibers Business

25.03.2005

The LANXESS chemical group is continuing to restructure its synthetic fibers business. As of April 1, 2005 Dorlastan Fibers & Monofil GmbH in Dormagen will convert its monofilament division into an independent company. Perlon-Monofil GmbH will run the monofilament business (polyamide/polyester filaments) in the future. The Dorlastan business unit (Spandex fibers) will remain with the renamed Dorlastan Fibers GmbH. Both companies are 100% subsidiaries of LANXESS Deutschland GmbH.

There are several reasons for dividing up the Dormagen-based companies. The two business units have neither the same customers nor the same products, and are represented in different markets. Furthermore, the markets are developing very differently. Dorlastan Fibers & Monofil GmbH achieved a turnover of around EUR 100 million in 2003 with roughly 500 employees. Dorlastan Fibers GmbH will remain in the Fibers Business Unit. The reorganization means that the foundations have been laid for new partnerships.
