Zip-Pak launches Hi-Temp zipper series
Zip-Pak has launched the Zip-Pak® HI-TEMP™ series, a new line of zippers specially designed for use in packaging applications that require extremely high heat. The zippers in this series include Zip-Pak's Microwavable zipper, the Boil-in-Bag zipper, and the Post-Pasteurizable zipper. Together with the ZIP-PAK® RETORT™, which was launched in 2003, these products deliver new options for converters, marketers and packagers in food, pharmaceutical, personal care and other industries.
Until recently, the options for adding a resealable feature to products that were reheated, processed, or cooked within the original package were limited, explains Robert E. Hogan, Director of Sales and Marketing for Zip-Pak. High temperatures could negatively impact the proper functioning of the zipper profile and overall package integrity. Now, with the Zip-Pak® HI-TEMP series, manufacturers can add high-performance zippers designed specifically for their applications.
Each zipper in Zip-Pak's HI-TEMP series is composed of a unique blend of resins. The materials have been developed to withstand high temperatures without losing zipper performance. Whether a package is microwaved, boiled, post-pasteurized, or retorted, each zipper in the HI-TEMP™ series is built with the strength required for repeated opening and resealing. In addition, the heat seal that bonds the zipper to the packaging film stays permanently intact. Each zipper can be sized to different widths and configurations, and runs with ease on most pre-form pouch machines.
The development of the Hi-TEMP series means brands can now build a better package, creating a new advantage over the competition, Hogan continues. This series demonstrates Zip-Pak's ongoing commitment to delivering the technologies that the market demands.
