Hastamat presents high performance in the smallest footprint

Hastamat presents its Vertical Multilane Wrapper (VMW) at the ProSweets Cologne trade fair. The high performance machine efficiently packages square and round sandwich cookies and cookies. Visitors to the ProSweets trade fair held from 28th to 31st January 2018 will be able to experience Hastamat products in Hall 10.1, Stand G030 H039.

"The machine concept of the Vertical Multilane Wrapper brings together a grouping facility for piece goods and a vertical wrapping process", explains Olaf Piepenbrock, Executive Partner of Hastamat's parent company Piepenbrock. This design combines the advantages of a horizontal packaging machine with those of a vertical machine. Two different loading positions make it possible to package products upright (on edge) as well as one above the other (on pile) on the same machine. This is achieved by a newly developed grouping module. The machine can be retooled from one packaging format to the other within five minutes. "This allows the Vertical Multilane Wrapper to cover a large range of different packaging sizes", says Olaf Piepenbrock.

"The space-saving, compact design, which enables the machine to be used in production sites with limited space is one of the machine's key advantages", states Mr. Piepenbrock. With its clear modular layout and flexible, scalable versions, the Vertical Multilane Wrapper also impresses by being able to operate several lanes in parallel. Up to 500 cookies per minute are packaged per lane. This translates into a packaging material saving of up to 22% compared to conventional solutions. The system can be optionally expanded up to a total packaging output of 12,000 products per minute. The Vertical Multilane Wrapper packages sandwich products non-cooled, thus saving the costly procurement and operating costs for a cooling tunnel. "The packaging machine handles the product with the utmost care to ensure the often fragile cookies are not damaged", says Olaf Piepenbrock. At the same time, the packaging lies close to the product as the product is fed with no format tube on a patented conveying system and packed with no product back-up. The Vertical Multilane Wrapper processes both heat sealable and cold sealable film and combines a host of patented detail solutions. The efficiency and technical know-how of the innovative packaging solution from Hastamat also convinced the jurors of the Deutschen Verpackungsinstitut (DVI) (German Packaging Institute) who honored the machine with the German Packaging Award in the "Engineering and Technology" category.
