Starlinger mourns the loss of Erna Starlinger-Huemer
The family and employees of Starlinger & Co. GmbH mourn the loss of their President and retired Director Erna Starlinger-Huemer, who passed away on March 11, 2017, aged 81. Together with her husband, the late Franz X. Starlinger-Huemer, she built a prosperous family business that grew to be one of the world’s leading companies in the sector of plastic packaging machinery.
In her active business life, which covered a time span of more than fifty years, Erna Starlinger-Huemer was not only a company head, she also was a world traveller, culture lover, supporting friend, and mother. Hard-working, reliable, cosmopolitan and always elegant, she was a “Grande Dame” in the male domain of mechanical engineering. With her sociable manner and her many travels to countries and customers all around the world, often as a member of an Austrian trade delegation, she acted as ambassador both for Starlinger and the Austrian mechanical engineering sector.
Erna Starlinger-Huemer was highly respected and valued by customers and business partners all over the world as well as by representatives of the Austrian economy and politics. To honour her services, she was presented with the Grand Silver Medal of Honour of the Republic of Austria. Her demise leaves a void that is hard to fill.
