ABH "Miratorg" will increase investments into beef cattle breeding project in Kaliningrad region up to 4,1 billion rubles
ABH "Miratorg", leading operator of the Russian meat market, will additionally invest 1,3 billion rubles into expansion of cattle breeding project in Kaliningrad region – total investment amount will exceed 4,1 billion rubles.
"Miratorg" has built vertically integrated beef production “from the field to the shelf” from scratch in Bryansk and Kaliningrad regions with the largest herd amount in Europe in the amount of 300 thousand heads.
"Kaliningrad Meat Company", included in the Holding, runs five high-technology farms in the area of the region. The Company already invested over 2,8 billion rubles into development of the cattle breeding assets in the region: by the beginning of the year 2015 the cattle herd amount exceeded 33 thousand heads, including parent herd of 25,1 thousand heads.
Production model “cow-calf” executed by the company in the region is focused upon the most difficult stage of the chain of vertically integrated project – development of the parent herd with high-level genetics and breeding seed bulls. Kaliningrad farms breed young stock, which is then sent to Bryansk region for feeding and further processing.
"Miratorg" considers Kaliningrad region to be one of the key regions for development of the genetic cattle breeding. We keep every heifer born at the farms for the purpose of increasing parent stock and development of genetic potential of the project as the supplier of elite stock for the cattle breeding industry of the Russian Federation within the framework of import substitution strategy. We plan to build new farms in the region and increase total herd amount of Aberdeen Angus cows up to 60 thousand heads in the mid-run”, - president of the ABH “Miratorg” Victor Linnik said.
