XXL Single-chamber Machine from MULTIVAC Packages Extra Long Food Products

18.04.2013

At the IFFA 2013, MULTIVAC will introduce its new C 800 vacuum chamber machine, which is equipped with a 1.40 metre wide chamber. This makes it especially suited to particularly long food products such as cylindrical sausages, lengthier whole fish or similar items. The C 800 is currently the largest single-chamber machine in the MULTIVAC portfolio.

With the development of the C 800, MULTIVAC is responding to current trends in the meat processing industry. "One trend, for example, is toward ever longer cylindrical sausages, which first require pre-packaging in order to protect them during in-house transport to the slicers. Our customers require especially long chambers of up to 1.4 metres in width in order to package the extra-long sausages," explains Ingo Renner of MULTIVAC.

In developing the new C 800 single-chamber machine, MULTIVAC has relied on time-tested technologies. The packaging specialist has equipped its double-chamber machine model C 500 with a new end-to-end cover. With a sealing bar length of 780 mm and an effective chamber volume of 1400 x 780 x 170 mm, the C 800 is considerably wider than its "little sister". The sealing bars are located on the right and left sides of the cover in the C 800 (as compared to the C 500, where sealing occurs in the front and back).

The C 800 provides customers will all the benefits also offered by the C 500. Among these are great reliability and precision, consistent implementation of the MULTIVAC Hygiene Design with proven stainless steel construction, high production speed as well as packaging security and flexibility. The intuitively operated electronic control additionally ensures a simple and reliable packing process.

In addition to the vacuum "quick-stop" function, the C 800 also offers automatic progressive ventilation. This ensures that sharp or pointed products do not destroy the film pouch during ventilation.

Depending on the packaged ware and the packaging materials used, various sealing systems and vacuum pumps can be employed. In order to further extend the shelf life of the products, or to protect them against pressure points or similar danger areas, there is also the option of providing the packs with a modified atmosphere (MAP packs). Typical inert gases used are nitrogen (N2) or carbon dioxide (CO2).

"Because this is a time-tested machine design, rapid implementation by the customer is ensured. Users also remain very flexible, since not only large products but also several small products can be packaged as well," explains Renner.
