Oil in Box ensures eco-friendly engine oil packaging
Millers Oils, has developed oil in a box in a joint initiative with Rapak – this new 15 litre bag-in-box format marks a first for oil storage with an innovative, cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to the traditional packaging of oils.
The oil-in-box solution combines convenience with a more sustainable pack that provides a credible alternative to expensive packaging waste disposal. Unique features of the Millers Oils design include:
- Twin handles for improved usability
- ‘Box shape’ is ideal for easy stacking and storage
- Handy 15 litre capacity-easy pour feature
The pack combines skills from three DS Smith divisions-the bag is from bag-in-box experts Rapak, the tap from injection moulded dispenser specialists Worldwide Dispensers, and the cardboard box from DS Smith Speciality Packaging Rawcliffe.
The pack is easy to handle, stack and transport as well as highly practical in a workshop environment. The sturdy box offers additional protection for the contents. The tap ensures safe dispensing with no glugging and minimal spillage and product waste.
The oil-in-box format is simpler to dispose of than standard plastic or metal oil drums, it minimises waste disposal costs. The pack offers a valuable carbon footprint reduction.
“Working with Rapak has allowed us to introduce a new type of packaging into the lubricants industry that is extremely beneficial for both our customers and the environment,” comments Howard Crossley, Automotive Product Manager at Millers Oils.
“Like all other markets, the aftermarket sector has had to adapt to changes in behaviour and environmental policy and Millers Oils is leading the way with an inventive new response to support changing market needs”.
