Baltika № 6 Porter wins awards The World Beer Awards 2010
The results of The World Beer Awards, one of the most prestigious international beer competitions, were announced in London at the end of July. Baltika № 6 Porter was amongst the winners. It won the title of "Best Baltic Porter in Europe".
The World Beer Awards is a worldwide tasting competition which includes the very best varieties of beer. This year over 500 brews from 27 countries were entered. A blind taste test is carried out to guarantee impartial judgement. The British magazine Beers of the World and experts at tastingbeers.com organise the contest.
The competition is judged by leading journalists, representatives of retailers, buyers, brewers, marketing experts who specialise in the beer industry, and experts from Beers of the World. The European panel of judges is headed by Jeff Evans, one of the world's most renowned beer writers. He is also the chairman of the International Beer Challenge competition in which Baltika № 8 won a silver medal and Baltika № 4 and Baltika № 6 won bronze medals in July this year.
The American panel of judges at The World Beer Awards is led by Stan Hieronymus (one of the leading American authors on the subject of beer and brewing and acknowledged as an expert in the field of wheat beers and monastic brewing), while the Asian panel is led by Bryan Harrell (a well-known author and publicist). The chairman of the international panel of judges is Roger Protz, a British writer, journalist and beer activist, who is one of the leading authorities on brewing worldwide.
