New standard palletising systems engineered by KOCH

08.02.2010

With its standard robot PalletSystems for palletising boxes and related containers, the German firm KOCH Industrieanlagen offers a swift and inexpensive method for devising sophisticated and economical palletising solutions. Instead of going down the road of long planning phases and inflexible applications the robot systems company is paving the way for flexible standards with its ground-breaking concepts.

The mature designs of the KOCH PalletSystems mean that apart from perhaps some routine work, only a little fine-tuning is needed to harness the full potential of the system installed. What customers certainly get is an extremely economical solution no matter whether they opt for a compact, lower-cost model or for one of the high-performance systems. What’s more, by using dependable standard components KOCH is always able to deliver promptly.

A safe investment and future-proof technology

Based in Dernbach in the Westerwald region, KOCH Industrieanlagen GmbH has developed universal palletising solutions with its PalletSystems. They are designed for boxes, open trays, and crates of up to 100 kilograms in weight, 100 to 600 millimetres in length, and 80 to 500 millimetres in width. The systems are also suitable for other containers such as bales, canisters, barrels, drums, hobbocks and pails. And thanks to their flexibility it’s a simple matter to adapt them at any time to all types of products, new requirements and future applications as well. An advantage which guarantees the customers a safe investment and thus future-proof technology in terms of their palletising processes. Apart from that, the systems are easy to operate too, with the types of products you want to palletise simply being selected in tables. And if you also need to create new layer configurations and stacking patterns relatively often, or set up entirely new products, then there’s the optional, field-proven KOCH software EasyPallet.

It is because of the numerous advantages gained by standardising the hardware and software, as well as by using perfected modules produced in large volumes that system users also benefit from a high degree of process reliability, and as a result, from an availability of 98 per cent. But the benefits for the customer are not only to be found in the standardisation and modular construction because the systems and also the standard accessory equipment are very reasonably priced as well. Added bonuses are that the maintenance costs are low and the loss of value is minimal, especially as a system can be traded in or bought back by KOCH once its high life expectancy of 10 to 15 years has come to an end. One of the foremost German firms in its field, the robot systems company also offers the option of maintenance or full-service contracts as well as attractive financing and leasing models.

Option between gaining extra space and saving time

Customers can also choose between the compact PalletSystems 500, 1000 and 1500, and the high-performance PalletSystems 3000 and 5000. The compelling features of the compact models are above all their very reasonable price and the fact that – depending on the particular system – they are perfectly happy working away on a small area measuring from 2.40 x 2.80 metres or 2.00 x 3.70 metres. And also, of course, their palletising speeds of up to 24 units per minute even though they require so little space. So they are ideal for users who are short of space or who need the precious room they have for other purposes. By contrast, the PalletSystems 3000 and 5000 are designed to deliver maximum speeds and can centrally stack the packaged goods of up to three packaging lines. The PalletSystem 3000 achieves speeds ranging from 1,000 to over 4,000 units an hour, while the 5000 boasts from 2,000 to no fewer than an astonishing 6,000 units in the same time.

Exacting requirements from the consumer goods industry and over 15 years of specialisation in flexible, efficient robot systems for handling, packaging, palletising and order picking have been incorporated into the optimised standard palletising systems. More than 200 successfully implemented systems attest to KOCH’s in-depth expertise. Apart from palletising systems, these include complete filling, packaging and order-picking lines which KOCH has developed and implemented as the general contractor in charge. The German robot systems company also deservedly scores plus points because it has not devised any stand-alone solutions with the PalletSystems but ones which can be easily integrated into the customers’ packaging and production logistics.

The sum total of all the elements makes the sophisticated PalletSystems engineered by KOCH one of the most exciting offers on the market today.
